2010
Vizsla Club of Illinois Double Bubble - Busch Farm, Winnebago,
IL
The
2010 Double Bubble events started off Friday night with several
club members coming to set-up for the next two days. Hopefully
everyone who helped work all weekend was mentioned in the e-mail
that went to the VCOI group list. If you are not a member of that
list, you need to join!!!
Saturday
in spite of the heat, everyone tried to stay cool under the tent
at the show grounds in Belvidere. I’m sure the show chair
will have a report on winners for you in another place. Noon at
the Busch Farm the Lake Inferior Hunt Test Seminar started with
several new people wanting to learn the ins and outs of how to
get into and compete in hunt tests. Some ran their dogs in the
field and were critiqued on what they needed to do for improvement.
Due to the heat, we did not have as many running this year. About
six p.m. the grill was ready and people began grilling their steaks
for dinner. There were approximately 80 people in attendance for
the dinner/meeting. Thanks to all the ladies who brought a dish–to–pass.
It was a delightful feast and quick club meeting. Club secretary
will have a report of the minutes of the meeting in the next Bulletin.
Sunday
the heat did not let up. If it was not for the tent club member
Mike Miklas brings, we would have fried in the sun. Although there
was a large crowd for events, we have seen larger in the past.
Either heat or threat of thunderstorms kept others home. Those
who came had a great time and participated in as many events as
they could handle. Below are placements in various events. I did
not receive a report for Tyro – Young Dog or Field Trial
Young Dog and based on paperwork turned it, it appears many dogs
did not find a bird. It was no wonder with the hot, humid weather.
Sorry folks – better luck next year. The ladies for the
Powder Puff Derby were a hoot as usual. This year the group was
divided into Juniors and Seniors. Michelle Princer from the local
restaurant Toni’s of Winnebago contributed funds for the
Juniors to cover the cost of their hats and t–shirts.
