Vizsla Club of Illinois Double Bubble - Busch Farm, Winnebago,

This years Double Bubble had near
perfect weather and it was greatly enjoyed by all! There are many
people to thank, I hope I did not forget anyone. Dan Cieslak,
Sharon Simpson, Jim & Linda Busch, George & Mary Haines,
Brad & Cindy LePoudre, Jon Peck, Mark Johnson, Randy Boggs,
Pam & Mark Spurgeon, Rick Mitchell & Crew, Rodney Albin,
Rob Tomczak, Amanda Lounsbury, Tom Kosanda, Michel Berner and
the Miklas family.
On Saturday we ran our mock hunt
test fondly known as “The Lake Inferior Tyro Classic”.
Big thanks to our judges Mark Spurgeon, Rodney Albin, Rob Tomczak
and Brad Lepoudre. We can’t forget to thank their trusty
mounts “Hunter” and “Quace”. Entries were
lighter this year, but everyone was able to run their dog, some
ran multiple times and all came away learning something new. We
ran dogs who had never been in the field all the way up to Master
Hunter level.
Saturday evening was our annual
membership meeting outdoor style! Everyone was asked to bring
a dish and there were many yummy ones to choose from. Many thanks
to Linda for all of the setup. Hats off to Linda’s mom who
made 3 or 4 of her famous chocolate cakes – they were not
to be missed!
On Sunday we held our fun games
and demonstrations.
Rubber
Ducky Race
Jim Busch coordinated this event and Dan Cieslak helped to take
duck bets. Mark Johnson’s lucky #64 duck won and he graciously
dontated his winnings of $55 back to the club – thanks Mark!
He did however elect to keep the highly sought after rubber ducky
trophy designed and put together by Brad & Cindy LePoudre.
Bird
Planting Contest
Our quail expert Rodney Albin showed our participants how to properly
put their birds to sleep. Our kids did such a great job that they
longest slept for over an hour! At 65 minutes Rodney began firing
a blank pistol to encourage the birds to wake up. Our club is
filled with a bunch of future field dog trainers!

Pigeon
Race
Five pigeons were hand selected by Jim Busch and named by Sharon
Simpson for this year’s race -- Booger, Angel, Harvey, Boon
and Gravel. Theories were tossed around and betting was heated
(favorites were Booger and Angel). Jim and his tractor pulled
the wagon again this year for the ride to the release line --
popular with kids and adult spectators. The birds were set free
and “Harvey” was the first one to touch the bird barn.
The bets paid out $10 to each winner!!!
Wing ‘n String Puppy Pointing
Contest We were blessed with a stellar group of puppies to show
off their instinct! Jim Busch declared that these puppies had
the most talent out of all of the years of Wing ‘n String
competition. This event is always a crowd favorite and this year
did not disappoint. Be sure and check out the online slide show

Fastest
Hotdog Eater
This was a new addition to the Double Bubble last year and was
so popular that we had it back! – Many thanks to Pam Spurgeon
for once again running this event. This contest was not how many
hot dogs your vizsla ate, but how fast they ate a few slices spaced
out on paper plates. This event was a crowd pleaser and was loads
of fun to watch. We had so many dogs entered that we ran out of
hotdogs! The placements are as follows:
